Teens, Music Technology, and the Digital Age

There used to be a time when the only way you could get professional-sounding audio was by going to an expensive recording studio. I have a friend who is a recording artist that spends hundreds of dollars an hour to use the finest software and hardware available today, but that is not the only way to produce quality audio these days.  Digital audio offers new opportunities when it comes to affordable home studios.  Whether you house your studio in your basement or your junky room, it is very easy to customize your workspace to create great audio recordings.

Now that we are in the digital age, companies are making powerful software tools available for home-studio users...which is YOU.  The software alone contains some great tools that allow for you to achieve a professional sound at a fraction of the price.  Some good ones to look out for are Sibelius Student, Pro Tools LE, and Cakewalk Sonar.

Music technology is ALWAYS changing, so if you plan on getting serious with your work, subscribe to magazines, audio blogs, and frequent newsletters to get the latest in the music tech world. You can also find some very good tips regarding studio setup, recording, and mastering through ebooks. A simple search on Google can help you find tons of information for what you're looking for if you're not familiar with these topics.

Finally, not only are we able to record in the home studio, we can now record on-the-go with mobile web apps like the iTouch.  Never again will a new song idea be lost in a blur when you finally get back to your guitar or piano.  You can now record the melody on the go and save it in your pocket for a rainy day.

Good information can enhance your musical experience.  The info is streaming from all sides, all you have to do is pursue it.
